It is a common occurrence to have the surface lights burn out after continual use of the range. The bulb can easily be replaced by removing the panels and screws opening the space and allowing access to the bulb. It is important to replace the bulb with the same exact type and wattage. Once the new one has been replaced the panels can safely be replaced and screwed in.
If your gas oven is losing heat from around the door it is possible the rubber seal or gasket may need to be replaced. To find out if this is an issue you can move your hand around the outside of the area where the door seals. If you can feel heat escaping then a repair technician should be called to replace the seal.
A common problem with electric ranges or ovens might be your heating element. Before looking at or working with any electric appliance it is imperative the appliance be unplugged or power turned off at the breaker. If the element has failed the old one can usually be unplugged and a new one can be plugged in replacing the old one. Sometimes this can be complicated and the help of a service technician is necessary.
Faulty fuses can cause an oven or range not to heat. The unit will be receiving power but will not heat as it should. In order to change the fuse, since the fuse box is usually found on the top of the appliance, the elements need to be removed and the drip pans will also need to be taken out. Once the faulty fuse is located it can be removed and replaced with a new one.
It is always important to make sure your appliance is in its best possible working condition. This ensures energy efficiency, as well as the lifespan of the appliance, making cooking and baking projects easier to manage. We recommend a yearly maintenance of your oven or range to keep things working and to head off any unexpected problems.
